Looking After Your Clip In Extensions

Updated: Aug 10, 2018

Human hair clip in hair extensions

Our human hair extensions are made of quality Brazilian Remy hair. They are easy to attach and available in a large selection of natural colours, giving you longer, thicker hair; adding volume in a matter of minutes.

Clip-in hair extensions don’t receive any natural oils from the scalp, the correct aftercare is essential to get the most out of your extensions. It is best to wash them as infrequently as possible to prevent them from becoming dry and damaged. We recommend washing the extensions every four to six weeks, this can vary depending on how many styling products you use.

If your extensions feel like they’re becoming difficult to style, this is a sign that there is product build-up and they need to be washed. The best product to use for washing your extensions are a Sulfate free shampoo and conditioner, Sulfate free products will not dry or damage your extensions.

When it’s time to wash your extensions, make sure to remove any tangles with a wide tooth comb or hair extension brush. Remember you should never brush your hair extensions when they are wet!

Gently distribute the shampoo, throughout the extension in a downward motion. Avoid the temptation to scrub, as this will cause the extensions to tangle and will cause breakage. Our clip in hair extensions can last between 3-8 months, this depends on the aftercare products used, it is best to invest in a good quality nourishing treatment and the correct shampoo and conditioner.

All human hair extensions can be coloured, providing that several important guidelines are followed. The quality and colour of the extensions will determine how long the hair will last after chemical treatments. Generally speaking, dark coloured hair will last longer.

Just like your own hair, all chemical treatments will alter the condition of the extensions. We do not recommend lightening the extensions at home; this should be done by your stylist.

Some useful tips!!

When you brush or style the extensions, expect some light shedding, don't be surprised, as this is normal with all clip in hair extensions. Always do a strand test, before colouring or bleaching, to ensure that you're satisfied with the end result, All chemical work done at home or elsewhere will be at your own risk.
